Showtime Arabia in Dubai has purchased two Zeta digital audio consoles from Calrec Audio to be used in broadcasting coverage of the English Premier League.
BBC World Service – Arabic is to use a Wood & Douglas eight-channel wireless talkback system for productions. The new BBC service has now filled two floors of its London headquarters with specially-developed television and multimedia studios from which it will produce television, radio, and online content.
ND SatCom, an SES ASTRA company, has acquired a stake in Glocom, a Dubai-based systems integrator and equipment supplier for turn-key digital broadcasting solutions. ND SatCom says it has witnessed an increase of roughly 15% in revenues from “the fast-growing Middle East and Africa regions.”
Harris Corp. is deploying two turn-key medium-wave transmission systems for Télédiffusion d'Algérie (TDA). The project, to be completed in 2009, includes the design and construction of the two radio transmission stations, the procurement and installation of towers and antenna systems, as well as the delivery and installation of 600 kW DX Series medium-wave AM transmitters.
Egyptian Radio & Television Union (ERTU) has purchased three Ross Video Synergy 2 SD production switchers to upgrade three outside broadcasting vans. They are described as “multi-purpose switchers used to work in virtually any live production environment.” MBC.net has deployed the Vignette Digital Services Hub for managing and delivering online content. MBC’s website provides program information and clips to 20,000 visitors daily.
