Brick House Video’s Proteus is a single rack unit NTSC/PAL standards converter with an audio delay and synchronization capability.  The unit features an advanced motion adaptive conversion algorithm, a 10-bit, four line adaptive comb filter and a range of inputs: 10-bit SDI, Composite, Component (YUV), and Y/C.  Output options are SDI and Composite in NTSC or PAL.  The Proteus accepts and outputs AES, analog and embedded audio.  The small size makes it perfect for OB vans, where space is at a premium.  Brick House integrated audio delay into the Proteus to deal with the lip-sync problems that often arise in conversion.
The 2006 Winter Olympics made use of 12 of these converters to convert live Italian PAL feeds to the US, where NTSC is the standard.  Prices depend on options and local duties, but range from $7,000 to $11,500.
