Graham-Patten Systems has released two new audio de-embedders, the AEDM-4/SD SoundPal and the AEDM-4/HD SoundPal.  Audio de-embedders solve the problem of monitoring the quality of audio embedded in digital video.  Connect an SDI video source with embedded audio (HD-SDI for the HD version) to the unit’s input and it will output up to 8x AES/EBU data streams.  A second AEDM-4 SoundPal can be stacked with the first unit in order to monitor 16 channels of audio.  The outputted audio can be plugged into a mixer or simply monitored for errors.
These de-embedders can prove quite useful in testing and troubleshooting.  Given their small size (13.3x4.1x16.8cm) and inclusion of a two-channel headphone jack, a sound engineer can monitor each stereo pair at every link point in a chain.
Output can also be sent out through Phoenix connectors.
The suggested retail price for the Graham-Patten Systems AEDM-4/SD SoundPal is $990.  The HD version is the same price.
