Download a movie in half a second?

Japanese firm Kansai Electric Power Co. has developed a technology that can transmit a two-hour movie in 0.5 seconds. The transmission speed of one terabit per second is over 100 times faster than inter-city data transmissions that are in use today, with the speed achieved using fiber-optic cables on power-transmitting steel towers. The technology could be in commercial use as early as 2010.
