by

Over 70 percent of UK homes now boast digital television reception, giving the UK pole position worldwide when it comes to digital TV.  Statistics released by regulator Ofcom show that for the first time ever, there are more digital TV subscribers in the UK than homes receiving analog. No other European country has passed the 50 percent mark as yet, while in the United States the figure is 55 percent. Around 30 million homes worldwide replaced their analog television with digital television in 2005. Globally this sets the number of homes receiving some kind of digital television at around 13 percent.
