Designed for ENG work, the latest boom from K-Tek is both lightweight and affordable. The graphite tubing gives the poles a great deal of strength and is even lighter than aluminum. Five sections telescope out to extend from 66cm to 244cm. K-Tek’s “captive collett” locking system keeps dirt out and prevents jamming. The K-Tek Avalon Graphite boom sells for $411. The internally wired coiled cord version, with a Neutrik female XLR on the top pigtail and a Switchcraft Male XLR in the base costs $100 more.
